Department Introduction
♦︎ An department focus on cross-disciplinary and cross-curricular training ♦︎
The Department of Information and Communication (TKUIC), established in 1998, is dedicated to staying attuned to the evolving information society and its connection with the digital platform industry. It is an interdisciplinary academic field that integrates communication marketing, aesthetic design, and information technology.
The curriculum is designed to respond to the wide-ranging changes in the information and communication industry in recent years. Students can tailor their studies by choosing from two options:
• Interactive new media design and production, or
• Information and communication management and marketing.
♦︎ Providing training to become proficient in digital marketing and content creation in the AI era ♦︎
The core concept of TKUIC is to train information communication professionals with a strong foundation in social and humanistic knowledge, with a particular emphasis on developing talents for digital content creation and marketing in the AI era. Accordingly, the teaching approach integrates foundational theories such as "Basic Social and Humanistic Theory" and "Information Communication Theory and Research" as the beams, while emphasizing practical lectures such as "Digital Content Creation" and "Digital Platform Marketing" as columns to develop a balanced curriculum that combines theory and execution to construct a comprehensive knowledge base.
♦︎ Professional Courses ♦︎

Our department trains students to participate in domestic and international marketing and creative design competitions, such as the Taiwan Young Lions Competition, and brings in experts from both Taiwan and abroad to coach students in preparation for these competitions.
♦︎ Interdisciplinary Program Plan ♦︎
Our department collaborates with the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Artificial Intelligence to offer the "Multimedia and Human-Computer Interaction Technology and Applications" micro-program. This program integrates AI and multimedia communication technology in a gamified context through using design thinking to foster talent in software development and engineering practices. The College of Liberal Arts also offers the "Smart Humanities and Practical Innovation Program," which provides students with cross-disciplinary ability for increasing various career options, enhancing both knowledge and employability. Additionally, we collaborate with the Department of Information Management to offer the "New Media Network Services Design" micro-program, focusing on internet service design and fostering STEAM talent across disciplines.
♦︎ Professional Internships On and Off Campus ♦︎
To enhance the students’ practical skills, we established the " New Media Center " in 2000. The center welcomes all students to apply and helps match the participants with industry-academia projects and internships to provide opportunities for students to put knowledge into execution. The program also offers summer internships, allowing students to gain insight into industry operations in areas such as media and advertising, social media marketing, UI/UX, digital games and animation, data analysis, visual communication design, and video production.
